- What is ETJ? State Law allows towns to control the land use such as zoning and subdivision regulations up to one mile outside the town limits, such as Peachland.
- Will this make my taxes go up? NO! State law does not allow ETJ to impose town taxes in the area outside the official town limits.
- What if I am unzoned now, how will this affect me? Anson County is prepared to zone the entire county in the next year. Peachland intends to apply zoning, like the county, to the same parcels but will be under town control instead of the county. Properties along US 74 are already zoned under the County and would probably be zoned the same or similar under the Town ETJ.
- Can I ask for a certain zoning in this process? Yes, submit your input in person or in writing to Town Hall by May 8st. The current town zoning ordinance is available at town hall to view. No guarantees, but your input will be considered by the Planning Board.
