The Town of Peachland was officially incorporated on March 31, 1895 but Peachland's history dates back to the late 1700s. Charlotte lawyers enroute to the Anson County Courthouse in Wadesboro use to camp overnight near a spring in the area because the trip by horseback took more than a day's travel time. Visit our History page for more details on the town's past, learn that Peachland narrowly escaped being called "Fruitland" and look at details on a hand drawn map from 1937.

Peachland (pop. 403) is located along US Hwy 74 in Anson County, NC, in the rolling hills of the rural piedmont region of central North Carolina, about 45 mins. east of Charlotte, NC. Some of the town's street names reflect the New Jersey heritage of the founding fathers: Passiac, New England, New York, Park and Boston. Passaic Street was Highway 74, built in 1923-24, before the four-lane US Highway 74 was constructed to bypass the downtown area.
